Your Privacy Rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other privacy laws, you have specific rights regarding your personal data. WiroTask respects these rights and makes it easy to exercise them.

1. Right to Access (Article 15)

You have the right to know what personal data we hold about you and how we use it.

What You Can Request:

  • Confirmation that we process your data
  • Copy of all personal data we hold about you
  • Categories of data we collect
  • Purposes of data processing
  • Who we share your data with
  • How long we store your data
  • Source of data (if not collected directly from you)

Response Time: Within 30 days (free of charge for first request)

2. Right to Rectification (Article 16)

You have the right to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.

Self-Service Updates:

  • Profile information: Edit directly in your account settings
  • Contact details: Update in profile section
  • Skills and bio: Manage in Tasker profile
  • Payment information: Update in billing section

3. Right to Erasure / "Right to be Forgotten" (Article 17)

You have the right to request deletion of your personal data under certain circumstances.

When Deletion Applies:

  • Data no longer necessary for original purpose
  • You withdraw consent (where consent was basis for processing)
  • You object to processing and no overriding legitimate grounds exist
  • Data was unlawfully processed
  • Legal obligation requires deletion

When We May Retain Data:

  • Legal obligations: Tax records, financial transactions (7 years)
  • Legal claims: Defense or establishment of legal claims
  • Public interest: Fraud prevention, safety investigations
  • Contractual obligations: Completed transaction records
  • Pending disputes: Until resolution

Account Deletion Process:

  1. Go to Settings → Account → "Delete Account"
  2. Or email: privacy@wiroko.com with subject "Account Deletion Request"
  3. Verify your identity (for security)
  4. Resolve any outstanding payments or disputes
  5. Confirm deletion (cannot be undone)

What Happens: Account deactivated immediately. Personal data deleted within 30 days (except data we're legally required to retain).

4. Right to Restriction of Processing (Article 18)

You have the right to limit how we use your data in certain situations.

Request restriction when:

  • You contest the accuracy of data (while we verify)
  • Processing is unlawful but you don't want deletion
  • We no longer need data but you need it for legal claims
  • You've objected to processing (while we verify grounds)

Effect: We can store data but not use it (except with your consent or for legal claims).

5. Right to Data Portability (Article 20)

You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.

Export Your Data:

Request a copy of your data in JSON or CSV format:

  • Profile information
  • Task history (posted and completed)
  • Messages and communications
  • Reviews and ratings
  • Payment history
  • Account activity logs

6. Right to Object (Article 21)

You have the right to object to certain types of data processing.

Direct Marketing:

Absolute right to opt out of marketing communications:

  • Click "Unsubscribe" in any marketing email
  • Adjust preferences in Settings → Notifications

Legitimate Interest Processing:

You can object to processing based on our legitimate interests (e.g., analytics):

  • Disable analytics cookies in cookie preferences
  • Request opt-out from specific processing activities

Note: We may continue if we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests.

7. Rights Related to Automated Decision-Making (Article 22)

You have the right not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that significantly affects you.

WiroTask's Automated Systems:

  • Task Matching: AI suggests Taskers based on skills, ratings, location
  • Fraud Detection: Automated systems flag suspicious activity
  • Search Ranking: Algorithm ranks profiles and tasks

8. Right to Withdraw Consent (Article 7)

Where we process data based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time.

Consent-Based Processing:

  • Marketing communications (unsubscribe anytime)
  • Non-essential cookies (manage in cookie settings)
  • Optional features (location sharing, push notifications)
  • Analytics beyond essential operations

Note: Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

9. Right to Lodge a Complaint

If you believe we've violated your privacy rights, you have the right to complain to a supervisory authority.

10. Identity Verification

To protect your privacy, we verify identity before fulfilling data rights requests.

Verification Requirements:

  • Request must come from email associated with account
  • We may ask security questions
  • For sensitive requests, government-issued ID may be required
  • Authorized representatives must provide proof of authority

This protects against unauthorized access to your personal data.

11. Response Times & Fees

Standard Response:

  • Timeline: Within 30 days (may extend to 60 days for complex requests)
  • First request: Free of charge
  • Repeated requests: May charge reasonable administrative fee
  • Manifestly unfounded/excessive: May refuse or charge fee

We'll notify you if we need to extend the deadline or if a fee applies.

12. Children's Privacy

WiroTask is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we've collected data from a child, contact us immediately for deletion.

13. International Data Transfers

If you're in the EU, your data may be transferred to countries outside the European Economic Area. We ensure appropriate safeguards:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)
  • Adequacy decisions by EU Commission
  • Appropriate technical and organizational measures
